“I was shocked to find out I had diabetes as I’ve always had a good diet, eating fish and vegetables while avoiding fatty red meat and oils. Since my diagnosis, diabetes has affected my life in many ways,” Hiroki says.
“I once woke up feeling anxious and confused, my pillow wet with perspiration. I sat quietly on the edge of the bed to collect my thoughts and piece together what had happened. I was later told by my doctor that hypoglycaemia can happen during sleep,” Hiroki says.
Since being diagnosed, Hiroki experiences weekly nocturnal hypoglycaemic events that make him feel lethargic the next day.
